Bronco Barn Finds: '74 Red Explorer

 When I tell you Broncos are still out there waiting to be saved I mean it. 

The Bronco below was recently found and purchased by a friend of mine in Seattle.

Hiding in someone's backyard since 1996 was this red 1974 Explorer Bronco Wagon.

Originally equipped with a 302 v-8, auto trans, dual tanks and power steering the Bronco had some upgrades done by previous owner including a Duff suspension lift, homemade winch bumper with brush guard and rear fender flares to clear the 34 x 9.5" Super Swamper tires.

The Bronco runs, but the carb leaks, so as per usual with a vehicle sitting that long a bunch of stuff will need to be replaced.

Working Broncos Pt 4

 

Time for another episode of Working Broncos, this first 1968 U-14 1/2 Cab probably served at an airport or Petro-Chem facility.

Here are a couple of Broncos put into snow plow service.

This doesn't appear to be a real police Bronco, but we'll take it at face value.

This 1967 military contract Bronco still serves at the Military College of South Caroline, better known as the Citadel

This Bronco was modified to film car scenes for movies.

This picture might require a second glance. This Bronco is being used to start the radial engine on the plane.

Pennsylvania Power and Light (PP&L) put snow tracks on this '68 U-14 1/2 Cab

The owner of Broadcast Services in Reno Nevada made his Bronco a company vehicle.

We'll finish with this Everglades Game Warden Bronco, again I don't know if this Bronco actually severed a Game Warden, but we'll take it at face value.

Bronco of the Day: 1968 Silver Stallion

 This month's Bronco du jour comes from California. This 1968 Bronco has been extensively modified.

Starting with the drivetrain, the original motor was swapped for a massaged 5.0 fuel injected Mustang motor, which feeds an NV3550 5 speed manual and Atlas II t-case.

The front Dana 44 has swapped in power disc brakes and the trusty 9" is out back, both are equipped with ARB air lockers.

The custom Proto-fab bumpers house a winch and led lighting in the front and racks in the rear for the spare tire & jerry can.

clearance for the Milestar Patagonia 37" M/T tires comes from a Wild Horses 5.5" lift suspension, which includes progressive rate coils, large shock hoop and extended radius arms in the front and 11 pack leaves in the rear.

Outside, the body mods include a Wild Horses "Buckeroo" fiberglass hood, they also removed the window frames in the doors and installed fender flares front and rear.

On the inside you will find a custom 6 point roll cage along with some a LeCarra steering wheel and Corbeau seats
