Bronco Barn Find: Patriotic Freek

This month we bring you something a little different. While not really a barn find, this Bronco was for sale and had spent some time out of doors.

I chose this one because Independence Day is just around the corner.

Revell Bronco Update

 It has been a while since I have posted anything regarding the Revell 1/25 scale Bronco model kits.

Since its introduction in 2016 the classic Bronco model has been very popular.  

A year or two later they introduced the Baja Bronco, the major difference between the kits was the Baja version came with cut out fenders and flares front and rear (which is technically incorrect as the Baja Broncos only came with rear fender flares.

In the last year or two Revell introduced the "Mr. Sandman", which is a 1/2 cab Bronco with the VW powered dune buggy.

This was a re-issue of sorts, the Mr. Sandman kit originally featured a Chevy truck

Then this last year Revell introduced a stand-alone 1/2 cab Bronco, this one has the rocker stripe kit similar to the ones from the early years, but maintains the chrome, marker lights and other post '72 Broncos came with.

So far, I have six Bronco kits, two Baja and four of the original. I am thinking of getting the Mr. Sandman kit as well.

As for the aftermarket parts, Olson Brothers has closed production, no word if they will resume anytime soon or if anyone will take their designs and start producing them.

Fireball Model Works continues to produce new items, I have been helping with the design of a 1966 roadster kit, which will include the 6-cylinder engine, correct locking hubs, grill, 1/2 doors, side mirror, wheels, dash and other components. No word on the release date yet.

I hope that when Fireball finishes the '66 kit they will consider some aftermarket hoods.
