Cryptozoology is the study of mythical creatures that may or may not exist.
This applies to Broncos how? Well, there is a lot of mystery and myths surrounding certain Bronco models and specialty-built Broncos.
So, this new segment at the blog will focus on these prototypes, one of a kind, special editions and the most historical Broncos ever built.
To keep the posts short, we will include only a brief story of each
We will try to separate fact from fiction and possibly come up with more questions than answers.
At first, I was going to compile this into one post, but it got waaay too long.
Today we are looking at the 1975 Safari Special Bronco.
The Broncos started life as a 1975 model year U-15 Wagon with Parrot Orange paint and argent grills. They were specifically ordered with no chrome trim. 302 V-8 engines, automatic transmissions, power steering and limited slip differentials rounded out the options.
These were built by a company in Wisconson and featured some off-road upgrades including, a Smittybilt roll bar, custom square tube bumpers, 31" off-road tires and a custom applique similar to today's vinyl wraps.
It is unknown how many were built or if Ford was involved or not.
The information comes from the Baja Broncos Unlimited website and no additional info has surfaced.
If you have any information, please post in the comments section.
