Bronco Tops

 When introduced in 1965 you could get your Bronco in three body styles, each with its own top (or lack thereof).

The U-13 was the roadster and had 1/2 door inserts and no top, the U-14 was the pick-up aka 1/2 Cab and the U-15 was the full topped wagon.

Ford also offered a factory vinyl, convertible soft top for the wagon and roadster models

There were also optional soft doors for the roadsters

Early on companies like Kayline and Bestop made aftermarket soft tops and doors

The sides of the top could be rolled up "safari" style

Bestop still makes their "square back" top

Wild Horses Four Wheel Drive offers this top called the "Rampage"

Tom's Off-Road offers a similar top in black, parchment or gray

BC Broncos soft top has a unique square look to it and also comes in a huge assortment of colors (twenty colors actually)

BC Broncos also have hinted at making a soft 1/2 cab top, but I didn't see it on their website.

Back in the late 60's you could order an aftermarket steel top from Kelly Cab

In the 70's it was popular to install a padded vinyl roof on your car, here are two classic Broncos with the treatment applied

If you live somewhere tropical or in the desert you could go with no top and no doors.

A bikini top is another option, although it only protects the front seats. This owner also installed the 1/2 door inserts and 1/2 vinyl doors

A weird option is a full wagon top with 1/2 door inserts....

If your rig is dedicated to off-roading in decent weather, you could ditch the top and doors and build a solid, roll cage mounted roof from sheet metal

Bronco of the Day: Velocity 1971 Bronco

 Todays Bronco of the Day is another one from Velocity Restorations, this one started as a 1971 Sport Bronco.

Among the upgrades are new axles with disc brakes at all 4 corners, a Duff 2.5" suspension lift combined with a 1" body lift, making room for the 33" tires, the front and read fender flares also help.

An early Bronco grill (66-68) was installed and a 5.0 Coyote Engine went under the hood (thus the need for the body lift).

All new leather seats and panels and a 6 pt roll cage are apart of the interior upgrades.

Custom bumpers front and read and an unnamed blue "custom ppg paint" round out the exterior.

Bronco Barn Finds 1970 Wagon

 

Not much is known about this barn find, except that it is a 1970 wagon.

The color appears to be Reef Aqua, the fenders, while rusty are uncut and the Dana 30 front end is still up front.

Another one that can be saved.....
