Bronco Cryptozoology #3: The Colombian Broncos

Cryptozoology is the study of mythical creatures that may or may not exist.

This applies to Broncos how? Well, there is a lot of mystery and myths surrounding certain Bronco models and specialty-built Broncos.

So, this new segment at the blog will focus on these prototypes, one of a kind, special editions and the most historical Broncos ever built.

To keep the posts short, we will include only a brief story of each

We will try to separate fact from fiction and possibly come up with more questions than answers.

At first, I was going to compile this into one post, but it got waaay too long.

In early 1967 Ford exported an unknown number of Ford U-13 Broncos to the South American country of Colombia.

Big deal you say? I am sure Ford shipped Broncos all over the world, what would be so special about Broncos being shipped to Colombia?

It is what the Colombian Government did to the Broncos once they arrived.

The lift gate and tail gate were cut in two then welded back into a barn door type configuration.

This one used a Kelly top.

This one used a standard top lift gate and barn door tail gate

A few of these have been returned to the U.S. and restored. There is no record of how many were shipped and how many still survive.

This story is true, and I will have a full story on them soon.
