Cryptozoology is the study of mythical creatures that may or may not exist.
This applies to Broncos how? Well, there is a lot of mystery and myths surrounding certain Bronco models and specialty-built Broncos.
So, this new segment at the blog will focus on these prototypes, one of a kind, special editions and the most historical Broncos ever built.
To keep the posts short, we will include only a brief story of each
We will try to separate fact from fiction and possibly come up with more questions than answers.
At first, I was going to compile this into one post, but it got waaay too long.
Wouldn't it be something if Ford built a Bronco version of the Boss Mustang? Did it really happen?
Yes, it did happen, in 1969
The Boss Bronco was built in 1969 by Kar Kraft, the very same people responsible for the Boss 302, 351 and 429 Mustangs.
Bill Stroppe was asked to assist with the project and supplied the roll bar, floor shifter, fender flares, larger tires and wheels.
The engine used was the largest you could comfortably fit in a Bronco, the 351 Windsor, but this was not just any 351W. This was a Hi-Po, 290 horsepower 351 originally destined for a 1969 Shelby GT-350 Mustang.
The hood scoop was borrowed from a Cougar Eliminator, the Bronco was then given a shade of yellow which is the same or similar to what was offered on the '69 Boss Mustangs.
This story is real, this Bronco does exist and made its way into the hands of a collector a few years ago.
Look for a full story on this Bronco coming soon.
