Bronco of the Day: K Bar S Dust Devil

Another K Bar S rig, if you don't know who K Bar S is, follow this link here.

The rigs built by K Bar S almost always had a few items that helped identify them. Besides the K Bar S suspension, there are the 1/2 doors (K Bar S was located in Las Vegas), the Beard seats, Le Carra steering wheel and Smitty Built roll cage (they were dealers for all three of these companies), the one thing that really made them stand out was the lettering on the fenders.

This one was nicknamed "Dust Devil", a 1966 Bronco that was built up the K Bar S way. Before being sold, it was taken to Beach City Broncos in El Cajon for a freshening up.

We'll start with the outside; the white paint appears to be Ford Wimbledon White.

The hood is a James Duff fiberglass unit with the Duff Bubble and the four bar vents, this is another K Bar S signature item, but not all their Broncos had this hood.

The front bumper I believe is a K Bar S original, I have seen them on several of the K Bar S Broncos and no where else.

Inside we can see the Beard seats, Smitty Built cage and the Bosch electric wiper motors that replaced the original vacuum units.

In this picture you can see the Hurst shifters, four speed and the T-case shifter has been replaced with a Hurst handle (just like what James Duff sells)

The suspension is of course from K Bar S

This build was a frame-off ordeal

The Dust Devil still has a 200 ci six cylinder, it does have some performance upgrades in the Clifford racing cylinder hear, carb and split header that flows into dual exhaust.

There were supposedly two of these Dust Devils built, but this is the only one I have seen.

Bronco of the Day: Elite Broncos # 006

Today's Bronco Du Jour is from Elite Broncos, a custom modified 1971 Wagon.

The running gear consists of a worked over 5.0 liter EFI motor producing 400 horsepower. The engine has custom made headers and an aluminum high rise intake. The motor is backed up by a 4R70W 4 speed automatic.

The front brakes are Chevy 1/2 ton units mounted to the Dana 44 front axle, the rears are from Wilwood.

The lift appears to be a 4.5" and uses new shock hoops in the front and 4 Bilstein shocks at each corner dampen the BFG Mud Terrain tires.

Random Bronco Pics IV

Tom Cheney's art never gets old.....see more here

These were built by Nylint Toys in the late '60's

Uncle Bob Lewis in his "Bouncing Bronco"

Another Viva Broncos rig, this one built in 1976, the last year they were in business.

I count at least five Baja Broncos, this may be the largest assemblage of Baja Broncos since they left Long Beach

A sad sight, but also a reminder, there are still Broncos out there that need to be saved.
