Bronco of the Day: Unknown '77

The Bronco of the day is a bit of a mystery, the pictures were erroneously posted with another Bronco that was for sale on the Top Classic Cars for sale website.

What I can surmise for the pictures is that someone knew what they were doing when they built this rig. The suspension is complete custom, using a pre-runner style coil over rear and custom radius arms in the front.

They started with a 1977 model and customized just those items that needed it. New seats, a roll bar, James Duff bumpers, custom dash and a fuel injected 5.0 liter motor.

The only body mods that I see is the custom valance under the tailgate and then of course there is the subdued paint, some sort of matte copper metallic.

Bronco Barn Find: 1966 U13 Red Roadster

Here is a rusty, neglected 1966 Bronco.....it is a genuine U13 Roadster and is in need of some serious TLC....hopefully someone adopted this poor rig and give it the restoration it deserves.

There was not a lot to go on in the description, but we can tell from the photos that the Bronco was originally Rangoon Red, the front bumper was replaced at some point with some pipe or tubing and many parts have been taken off and are missing.

Bronco of the Day: Classic Ford Broncos Amelia Island

If you have never been to the Classic Ford Broncos website, you need to visit it.

The team there has built, and restored dozens of classic Broncos and this Bronco of the Day is one of them.

They call it "Amelia Island", probably after the famous car show: The Concours D'Elegance held in Amelia Island Florida.

The Bronco is a 1975 Sport Wagon that has all the desired options, dana 44 front with power disc brakes, automatic transmission, power steering and AC.

The 302 V-8 appears to be warmed over with Edelbrock 4-barrel intake and carb along with a Jacobs electronic ignition.

The 3" lift is accomplished with taller coils in the front and blocks in the rear. Tires are 33" BFG All-Terrains.

On the inside they installed a roll cage, but curiously only in the back 1/2. It appears to be a Smittybilt style with the Wild Horses San Felipe kit.

The seats were reupholstered in a custom black vinyl with black & blue tartan inserts

Bronco Cryptozoology #3: The Colombian Broncos

Cryptozoology is the study of mythical creatures that may or may not exist.

This applies to Broncos how? Well, there is a lot of mystery and myths surrounding certain Bronco models and specialty-built Broncos.

So, this new segment at the blog will focus on these prototypes, one of a kind, special editions and the most historical Broncos ever built.

To keep the posts short, we will include only a brief story of each

We will try to separate fact from fiction and possibly come up with more questions than answers.

At first, I was going to compile this into one post, but it got waaay too long.

In early 1967 Ford exported an unknown number of Ford U-13 Broncos to the South American country of Colombia.

Big deal you say? I am sure Ford shipped Broncos all over the world, what would be so special about Broncos being shipped to Colombia?

It is what the Colombian Government did to the Broncos once they arrived.

The lift gate and tail gate were cut in two then welded back into a barn door type configuration.

This one used a Kelly top.

This one used a standard top lift gate and barn door tail gate

A few of these have been returned to the U.S. and restored. There is no record of how many were shipped and how many still survive.

This story is true, and I will have a full story on them soon.
